The Salinas beachfront avenue is quite animated in some areas, with a
selection of restaurants. It is a favorite walk for natives and tourists.
The Chipipe beachfront avenue is non commercial and perfect for a leisurely

The San Lorenzo neighborhood is at the entrance to Salinas

The Petropolis neighborhood is one of the most exclusive; it has

The residential developmets to the North of the "Blue Coast",
such as Ballenita, Capaes, Barandúa, Punta Blanca, and others
further North, offer wonderful beaches and tranquility. Villages such as Manglaralto,
Montañita, San José and others offer alternatives for

A WARNING for those who contact
"unofficial" brokers in Ecuador and especially in the Salinas and
other coastal areas: Several American and European expatriates have
settled in several beach areas. Some of them, seeing the available opportunities
in real estate, have become unofficial real estate brokers. Unfortunately, some
of them have started unethical practices, like buying worthless properties and
reselling them to gullible investors. Some are promoting ghost real estate
ventures and some are even advertising on the Internet to attract
"customers". Be wary of such operators and work only with Ecuadorian
licenced real estate brokers and if possible, with international franchise
representatives. You
may find the list of official brokers at http://acbir.org,
the official Web Site of the Association of Real Estate Brokers of Guayas and
Santa Elena Provinces.
Real Estate tours. Some operators
(in the bad sense of the words) have started to conduct real estate tours of the
coastal areas, as they have done in the highlands for some time. We have
observed that the tourists are more like captives, as they will conduct
lightning tours that only show the participants the properties that the
operators have interests in. Some of them will swear that they are only tour
operators and that they make no profit out of the properties they show and get
to sell, when in fact they have a healthy commission from the sellers for
pushing the properties they have found very difficult to sell. We strongly
recomend, especially in the Salinas area, that if you are on a tour, you free
yourselves for at least a day and contact a licenced real estate broker in the
area. You will be able to see a lot more properties and better deals, as well as
get really expert advice on what is best in the area.
